Other Dharma Resources on and off the web

Here you can find information about  practice and study resources, both offline and online. We’re reviewing other websites (many of them helping us to stay humble by being so incredible) books, videos, and other media. We also send out brief summaries of the latest posts in our newsletter once or twice per month, so if you can’t find what you’re looking for right now, make sure to subscribe at the bottom of this page. And of course if you feel we’re missing some essential resource (which we certainly always will given the nature of samsara), kindly drop us a line through our Contact form.

Rinpoche’s Asian Tour 2016 – Recording and Live-Streaming

UPDATE October 26: The Medicine Buddha retreat in Bangkok, Thailand is about to kick off, and we’re going to live-stream the teachings and guided meditations from October 28-30. If you are interested in joining that, please enroll as soon as possible to make sure you can access the streams and recordings when they become available. And of course for that you need to register if you don’t have an account yet. Enrollment is open at https://dharma-elearning.net/content/?add-to-cart=3107.  For the detailed schedule and more Info (if you aren’t enrolled yet): https://dharma-elearning.net/content/. And to view (if you are enrolled): https://dharma-elearning.net/courses/live-streaming-medicine-buddha-retreat-bangkok-with-dupseng-rinpoche/. To reflect the generosity that is making these streamings and recordings possible in the first place, we’ve decided to automatically enroll all friends who have previously enrolled in the medicine Buddha teachings from the Philippines. We’ll do the same thing retro-actively for the Vajrasattva we just completed in Canberra as well as moving forward with all upcoming live-streams that have the same content as a previously published video-course. Having said that, of course and as always, the practice of generosity is strongly encouraged and deeply appreciated. Original Message: Dear Dharma brothers and sisters, Rinpoche is on the road again. As usual this time of year he is touring the Asia-Pacific region. This morning the tour started with the opening of the Amitabha retreat in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. All the activities on the tour are possible because of causes and conditions, first and foremost Rinpoche’s aspirations and efforts, and of course all the wonderful aspirations and efforts of all the friends inviting and hosting Rinpoche and supporting his activities. And this time, thanks...

Meet the Magic Mani Machine

Following Rinpoche’s wishes and in line with his overall activities and not least in time for his birthday we would like to introduce the companion web-app for the Mani Project 2015. The “Magic Mani Machine” web-app will be available for anyone’s convenience at http://dharma.online. (Opening in time with the opening event at KKDSKL.) It should be compatible with all current major web browsers and operating systems and has been designed specifically for mobile users. The purpose of the app is to allow all dharma brothers and sisters participating in the Mani Project 2015 from Nov 13 to Dec 5, 2015, to record your accumulations after every session or at the end of every day online review your own accumulation, your centre’s accumulation, the grand total for the project the accumulations of all other participants and centers (ranked by number of manis accumulated) Usage is exceedingly simple. Point any browser (especially on your mobile) to http://dharma.online, and enter your last session’s or day’s count.  (When you use the app for the first time, you need to enter an email address and select your centre right on the first screen, additionally you can set a target for yourself and enter a name that will be displayed in the rankings, on the “Profile” page. From the second visit onwards the browser will remember your settings and all you have to do is enter the latest count.) And with the app being online and available globally, Rinpoche wishes for international Dharma brothers and sisters who are familiar with the Chenrezig practice and the six syllables to join the project and contribute their manis to the overall goal....

Lamp Offering Practice by Lord Atisha

Lamp Offering Prayer by Lord Atisha (Download the pdf version by clicking here or on the link above. This text was distributed in PDF form at Karmapa’s visit in Singapore last year. Courtesy of Karma Kagyu Buddhist Center Singapore.) Here is the English translation for your reference: May the container of the lamp be as wide as one great chiliocosm (10003 world-systems or one Buddha’s world); May the wick be as tall as Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains; May the butter be as vast as the great ocean of the universe; May there be, in front of each Buddha, a hundred million lamp offerings appearing. May the rays of light eradicate the darkness and ignorance of the beings from the highest peak of existence to the lowest level of the Avici Hell (The Hell of Unending Pain) and illuminate the pure realms of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the ten directions. OM VAJRA A LOKE AH HUNG. E MA HO! The brilliance of this magnificent lamp, to the 1000 Buddhas of this fortunate Kalpa, to those who are in the immeasurable field of perfect realms, to the Gurus, Deities, Dakinis, Protectors and to the whole assembly of the Mandala of the Enlightened Ones, I sincerely offer. May this benefit all sentient beings including our parents of this very life and throughout the whole chain of rebirth, may they all be able to see and actualize the Buddhas’ perfect field and ultimately, may all be inseparable with Buddha Amitabha. By the blessings of the Triple Gems and the Triple Roots, as well as the power of the Truth, please grant...

The power of your compassion comes from the expanse of your wisdom, vast and profound. Kindness to sentient beings is the sublime display of your emanations. Inseparable from the three mysteries, in the manner of the lords of the three families, Dharmamati, may your sublime emanation manifest soon! For the benefit of infinite sentient beings throughout infinite aeons Having perfectly accomplished the bodhisattva’s conduct and having attained The sublime level of unity, you who manifest the activity of emanations In infinite worlds, may you manifest soon! Karma Kagyu Library in Vietnamese

(Only in Vietnamese) Our sister-site came online two weeks ago. The Karma Kagyu Library in Vietnamese offers texts and other resources from the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism with special emphasis on the Karma Kagyu Lineage. The site is growing ferociously and if you happen to speak (and read) Vietnamese or know someone who does, it is a very good place  to find translations of prayers, practice texts, commentaries, the life stories of lineage masters, and other resources. In their own words (from their concept): “With the lineage’s activities growing in Vietnam and more and more Dharma friends interested in teachings and practice, yet only understanding Vietnamese, we believe it will be beneficial for Vietnamese to have a: Karma Kagyu Library in Vietnamese,
online at thu-vien-karma-kagyu.org. Our mission is to translate all texts necessary to introduce the Karma Kagyu lineage to Vietnamese Buddhists, support practitioners with Sadhana material, and support activities of lineage master who visit Vietnam.” We rejoice in their work and aspirations and wish them all the best for their auspicious...
